Microwave generator

A generator is a device which is used to produce or generate anything. It has capability to take output from any source and then convert this energy to work and hence produce output in any useful form. A microwave generator is used to produce microwaves. These microwaves are used in radars, microwave ovens etc.

Cavity Magnetron is a high powered vacuum tube which is used to generate coherent microwaves. It has a hot filament called cathode which is at the center of an evacuated circular chamber and kept at high negative potential by a high-voltage direct-current power supply. Permanent magnet produce perpendicular magnetic field.

Due to this electrons are attracted to positive outer part of chamber. When an electron passes through cavities then they produce resonant high frequency radio field in the cavity which causes the electrons to bunch into groups. The magnetron is a fairly efficient device which is mostly used in radars and microwave ovens.
